RESUMEN
Se citan criterios conceptuales básicos necesarios para la docencia del periodo Cuaternario en Educación Secundaria, como los establecidos para definir el periodo, sus límites y divisiones. Así mismo, se analizan los contenidos curriculares en temas geológicos y paleontológicos en esa etapa educativa, y se hacen consideraciones respecto a la necesidad de su incremento, con el fin de asegurar una formación académica que facilite la comprensión e interpretación de los fenómenos relacionados con la crisis climática actual.
ABSTRACT
Basic conceptual criteria necessary for the teaching of the Quaternary period in High School are cited, such as those established to define the period, its limits and divisions. Likewise, the curricular contents on geological and paleontological issues in this educational stage are analyzed, and considerations are made regarding the need for their increase, in order to ensure an academic training that facilitates the understanding and interpretation of the phenomena related to the current climate crisis.
